DETOUR by SQUEEZERS
FIRST INTERACTIVE USB FLASHDRIVE ALBUM IN THE PHILIPPINES
There’s no stopping Squeezers from coming up with fresh ideas every day. For their latest major project, they released the first interactive USB digital album in the country late 2009. Just in time for the holidays.
Highway Eskinita: Detour is the expanded multimedia version of their acclaimed 2008 debut Highway Eskinita. The band had decided to take the idea all the way and release the album as an ultra-deluxe mini-package: included with the digital copy of the ten-song opus is their radio hit “Helmet,” previously released as a radio-only single; the official “Field Trip” music video; a live version of the entire album; and as a nod to fans, they also included “Destructional Videos”—instructional clips on how to play the songs in the album. All of this (and a lot more) are presented within an interactive media player and encapsulated in a compact package.
Squeezers—Byron Ricamara on vocals and guitar, Judith Abad on bass, Jeremy John Ricamara on drums and Clifford Jongko on guitar—considers Detour as a culmination of a year’s worth of pitching ideas on how to maximize the capability of a USB digital album. While not an entirely new technology, this is the first time a digital album is packaged in such a way that the experience goes beyond just listening to it—the artist gives the listener more that just a glimpse of the inner workings of an album. With a lot of exclusive extras to boot.
Highway Eskinita: Detour order form is available on the band’s website, www.SqueezersBand.com. Interact with them and check their live appearances via their mobile hotline at 0917-416-8835 and via email/ IM/ social networking sites: squeezersband@yahoo.com.
